ROMER MEDIA is headquarters to award winning freelance Producer, Director and Writer, Pieter Romer.
Romer comes from the Nisga'a wolf clan or Laxi'buu in northern BC and descends from Frisian seafarers in Northern Holland. He studied theatre at Kitsilano Secondary School and Motion Picture at Capilano College.
In 2000, Romer got his break as a Story Producer for the award winning Indigenous current affairs series CTV First Story, working his way up to Senior Producer.
For 14 years at CTV alone he produced, directed and wrote 150 hours of broadcast television in art, culture and politics, winning numerous prestigious journalism awards. First Story became the longest running Indigenous current affairs series in Canada.
Romer's work for CTV and APTN earned him the postion as APTN's Executive Producer for Western Canada News & Current Affairs.
Some highlights of Romer's work is filming in the unforgiving temperatures of Nunavut, to chasing caribou on the edge of the Barren Lands of the Northwest Territories, to scouring the dusty archives of the American Museum of Natural History in New York with the Haida Repatriation Committee. Romer has also worked internationally documenting the Ainu in Japan.
More recently ROMER MEDIA completed Tsunami 11th Relative for Ocean Networks Canada and two co-productions with Death & Prosperity called Pandemic Elementary and Black Rock for CBC GEM.
